The purpose of this image is to accurately depict the optimal position of the Phantom Non-Occlusive Modeling Catheter, developed by LeMaitre Vascular within a thoracic stent graft used in the repair of an aortic aneurysm. Unlike balloon catheters, the Phantom allows the surgeon to expand and model thoracic stent grafts without occluding blood flow (red arrow). The Phantom's nitinol mesh cage expands, allowing the surgeon to model the stent graft snugly to the vessel wall. This image was awarded a Certificate of Merit in the juried salon of the Association of Medical Illustrators.
