These four images were created for Predix Pharmaceuticals to compare and contrast the abnormal regulation of the neurotransmitter 5-HT (serotonin, yellow spheres, upper left image), with the mechanism of action of drugs that are used to treat anxiety and depression, specifically highlighting the superior receptor selectivity of their own drug candidate, PRX-23. Featured are: an SSRI (selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor, green shape blocking the 5-HT reuptake pump, upper right), Buspirone (5-HT1A agonist, blue shape bound to the 5-HT1A receptor, lower left image) and PRX-23 (magenta shape, lower right image), a highly selective 5-HT1A agonist. The images shown are the result of close collaboration with the staff of Predix - a very rewarding team effort.
